Paul withdrew his hand, and Kenny collapsed to the ground like a crumpled rag. He stepped forward and crouched down to examine the wound on Shawn’s leg. “You won’t die,” he said nonchalantly.
Whether unintentional or not, Paul stepped on Shawn’s wound as he stood up. The blade was driven deeper into his flesh by another inch.
“Argh!” he let out a blood–curdling scream. The bleeding, which had initially stopped, started gushing out again.
As for the people Kenny called over, they were subdued by the two men who were dressed in black that Sam brought with him.
“All of you better stay put!” one of them ordered.
Shawn shouted, “Who are you guys? How dare you lay your hands on Mr. Black’s men? Do you have a death wish?”
Yet, no one paid him the slightest attention.
When Madison was freed, she stormed over and slapped the thug who shoved her face against the dirt wall. “Are you crazy? aven’t you watched a movie before? You should never hit someone in the face!”
The thug was speechless. Then, why did Madison hit him in the face?
Sebastian hurried forward to calm her down. “Let it go. Hitting him isn’t worth hurting your hand.”
“Exactly! It’s fortunate that Dr. Jefferson and Mr. Cooper showed up in time. If they hadn’t, who knows how much dust I’d have had to inhale!” she exclaimed.
After a moment’s thought, Sebastian went over and delivered a resounding slap on the thug’s face. His slap was louder, and he clearly hit much harder than Madison.
“Huh?” Madison was dumbfounded. NôvelDrama.Org is the owner.
The thug was equally stunned.
Sebastian remarked, “You shouldn’t dirty your hands. I’ll do it for you.”
“Seb, I just realized how good you are to me.”
“You’re only realizing it now?”
“I’ve noticed it for a while, but today it really hit me!”
“Oh, at least you have good taste,” Sebastian said with a subtle curve of his lips.

Meanwhile, Paul and Sam finished dealing with Kenny. They walked over to Miranda and spoke at the same time.
“Are you okay?”
“Did you get hurt?”
Miranda shook her head. “I’m fine. Thank goodness you two are here.”
She wasn’t surprised by their arrival. Earlier that morning, Paul and Sam had replied to her one after another after she sent the message.
They had rushed to the nearby town overnight and would be entering the village in the morning. Miranda shared the news with Madison and Sebastian, giving them a sense of security.
The three of them devised a detailed plan before the Sneider brothers even arrived. They were going to stall for time and collect evidence!
The plan was to let Ollie and Joli negotiate with the Sneider brothers while Sebastian stood by. Miranda, Madison, and Julie would hide outside.
When the negotiations broke down, Sebastian would step in and provoke one of the Sneider brothers. Sure enough, Shawn fell for it and was lured outside.
Once they were outdoors, they were in a public space. Miranda and Madison seized the chance to record everything while ensuring the villagers became unsuspecting witnesses. Exposing Shawn’s violent behavior in front of everyone might serve as a wake–up call for the villagers, regardless of whether or not they would testify.
Today it was the Cliffords. Tomorrow, it could be the Gardners, the Zellers, or the Watsons. Who could say for sure? Among so many villagers, maybe someone with a conscience would decide to step forward.
As for the sickle…
That was truly an accident.
Sebastian was flustered momentarily before he regained his composure. He was acting in self–defense and preventing a crime from happening.
In addition, he knew that Miranda and Madison were filming everything. He was confident he could explain the situation clearly,
In the end, it was Shawn who brought this on himself!
But still, Madison was puzzled. “Dr. Jefferson, Miranda said you two arrived in town early this morning. Why did it take so long for you to show up?”
Paul and Sam exchanged a glance.
Paul said, “You tell her.”
Sam pouted and said, “Fine…”
