Chapter 24
I take my truck once we get back to town and head home. I have to meet with Aunt Josephine first, then I can meet Gray. She looks like one of those old school masters in movies. Not at all inviting. She is sitting on the sofa in the sitting room, watching the door when I come in. She practically growls at me. “Where have you been? Your mother said that you were off work hours ago.” Her gray hair is in a tight bun and she has her lips in a tight line.
“I had a date. I didn’t figure you would be angry.” I feel like a scolded child.
“What date? With who?” She stalks towards me, sniffing the air.
“Really how can I pinpoint it, there are a few male scents on you. What type of girl are you?” She sneers at me.
Uncle Jared comes around the corner. “Ease up Aunt Josephine. She is a good girl I swear. She just has a lot of friends. Some of which are guys.”
“Good girls shouldn’t be running around with guys into the wee hours of the night.”
He shakes his head. “It is hardly the wee hours of the night. Christ the sun isn’t even down.”
I put my hands up. “I thought you were here to help me, but I guess I was wrong. I’m going for a walk.” I throw my purse down and head straight to the back door.
I don’t stop until I get to the tree. I am fuming. How dare she talk to me like that? I am not a slut. She is a bitch. I kick a few rocks and scream at the sky. Only after my voice dies down do I hear a yip to my right. I look and see Gray standing there. “Sorry, I’m not yelling at you.”
He cocks his head to the side. I take my seat and close my eyes. Soon I hear the cracking of bones. The feel of fingers brushing my face is comforting. “What happened?”
“Aunt Josephine. She practically called me a slut. Says I’m out too late with guys and I smell like a bunch of them.”
He grumbles. “Well you kind of do.”
“Not you too. I have had a really bad day. I have been accosted, kidnapped and insulted. I thought you would be a little nicer.”
“Sorry, I can tell that someone kissed you.”
“That would be the accost.” I wrap my arms around my knees. I still have my eyes closed for him.
“Someone forced a kiss on you.”
“Yeah, Justin. He kidnapped me too.”
“Really?”
“Why would I lie about that?”
“I don’t know. What did you tell him?”
“I told him that I was interested in someone else and I would not be interested in him. He said that you were stringing me along and I shouldn’t hold out hope for you. But I know that was just a ploy to get me to date him. I am not stupid. What’s going on is complicated.” I actually feel a tear on my cheek. I didn’t realize that I was that upset about it.
“Hey, maybe I am asking too much. I should probably stay away. I know I am asking a lot. Especially since we feel so much for each other anyway.” He kisses my cheeks. “I am selfish, I’ll admit it. I don’t want to let you go.” He pulls me into his arms. “I am going to be crushed on your birthday. You are going to find this perfect mate and leave me.”
“How can you say that?” The tears are getting worse. “I can’t imagine anyone more perfect than you.”
He chuckles. “You won’t think that always. You’ll find out things about me that will make you want to run for the hills, if I am your mate.”
“What makes you think I’m not?”
“You are too good for me.”
“That’s bull and you know it.” I want to look in his eyes and tell him this. I am really trying hard to respect his no looking thing, but to be honest it is pissing me off.
“Well, then maybe after this.” He angles my head so that it isn’t in his chest anymore. Then he kisses me. Passion oozes from his lips. Without breaking the kiss he moves my body around so that I am straddling him. I cling to his shoulders as he digs my body into his. Pushing my hips down. He attacks my lips like they are his last meal.
“Gray.” It comes out as a whimper.
“Please don’t make me stop.” He whines. Attacking my lips again. He tangles one hand in my hair holding my face close to his. His other arm doesn’t stop pulling my body to his. I am completely and utterly lost in the feel of him. My hands venture down his chest. I can feel every line and curve of his muscles. How could he think he isn’t good enough for me? If anything I feel he is too good for me. So, when he peels my shirt off I don’t even hesitate, it’s not a problem.
His mouth leaves mine, but only to kiss and lick my skin. “Your skin tastes so amazing.” He gives me a little nibble on my neck. Earning him a moan of pleasure. “You like that?” He bites a little harder. I moan more. Holy crap that feels good. It shouldn’t feel good. He licks where he bit. “I need to be careful. Wouldn’t want to mark you before your birthday.” He switches to the otherside doing the same thing. I never knew something like this could feel so amazing.
“Gray.” I moan as he slides his tongue down to my upper chest, just above my breast.
“Fuck, I can’t stop.” I feel his fingers fiddling with the back of my bra. This is it. He wants me. We both hear a howl off the left. I don’t open my eyes still but I am sure his are wide open now. “Damn it.”
“What is it?”
“Someone is following my trail. I have to go. I don’t want them to find you.”
“Someone who?”
“I don’t know but I am going to find out.” He growls. He lifts me off himself. He pecks my lips. “Maybe it’s better this way. We should really wait for your birthday.”
I pout a little as he hands me my shirt. “What if I don’t want to?”
He lets out a low purr. “Don’t tempt me. I want nothing more than to throw you on this ground and make you mine. I don’t want to let any man touch you.”Belonging to NôvelDrama.Org.
“Then don’t.”
He pulls me close to him. “Please don’t change.”
“I’m not going to.” I feel him lean in and kiss my head.
“Hurry and put your shirt back on. I am sure Aunt Josephine wouldn’t want you to return without it.” Then I feel his absence.
The sound of bones cracking fills the air. When it’s silent for a moment, he lets out a yip. I finally opened my eyes to see him watching me from a close tree. He nods to the shirt. I smile and quickly pull it on. Only then does he seem satisfied. “Good night Gray.” He gives me one last yip before running off.
