Chapter 434
Callum didn't waste any time. He shrugged off his jacket, slipped on a pair of boxing gloves, and with a confident stride, stepped right into the ring. "Let's get started."This text is property of Nô/velD/rama.Org.
Everett tugged at the corner of his mouth, but his smile didn't quite make it to his eyes. He'd spent the entire afternoon in his office, and everything suddenly fell into place. There was no way Selena could have pulled off her escape alone; she had to have had some outside help.
Her uncle and brother hadn't made any moves lately, and even if they wanted to help, they wouldn't have the means. So, after mulling it over, the only one with the guts and capability to help had to be Callum.
Yet, right now, he wasn't denying a thing, just owning it like it was the most natural thing in the world, which only stoked Everett's rage and jealousy even more.
Both men were seeing red.
Their last confrontation in the hospital had been more about blowing off steam, but this time, they were going all out, an all-in brawl without any holds barred.
At first, they were evenly matched, but as time went on, Callum's stamina began to wane, and Everett took advantage, knocking him to the ground with a solid punch. He twisted Callum's arm behind his back, his voice cold and cutting, "Where's Selena?"
For a doctor, hands are everything. Now, with Everett pressing on his weak spot, it seemed like he wouldn't hesitate to break Callum's hand if he didn't talk.
Callum, rarely caught off guard, still managed a smile, each word steady as he replied, "Everett, Selena has the freedom to choose!"
The message was clear: as long as Selena didn't want to come back, he'd keep her secret to the end.
Everett let out a scornful laugh, his eyes full of disbelief. "And she'd choose you?"
Callum didn't back down, "What if she does? The issues between you and Selena are because you took her for granted. You were always looking for something better. She wants to move on. Why shouldn't she?" The words "she doesn't want you anymore" hit Everett like a ton of bricks, his anger surging as he almost gritted his teeth, "I've only ever been with her!"
She was the one who wouldn't believe him. No matter what he said or did, she refused to face the truth. She was the one who had moved on!
But Callum wasn't buying it. He threw a punch that caught Everett off guard, hitting him hard in the gut and sending him stumbling back to the ground. Callum, propping himself up on the floor, glared at Everett, breathing heavily, his eyes like ice.
"Everett, do you think not sleeping with another woman means you haven't hurt her?"
"Every time you stand up for another woman, it's like stabbing Selena in the heart over and over!"
"And when she was pregnant, and the baby had complications that could've cost them both their lives, she was in so much pain and fear wanting to talk to her husband Where were you? Blaming her for the loss because of another woman!"
"You keep insisting Margot's baby wasn't yours, yet you protected her like she was your treasure, while you left the woman carrying your child to face her pain and fears alone!"
en
"After losing the child, you ignored her anguish and forced her to try for another baby. Is that what you call compensation? Compensation. should be for her, not for yourself, Everett. Don't you see how awful your actions have been?"
There were so many things Selena didn't want to say to Everett anymore, her disappointment in him was so deep, but Callum wanted to speak up for her.
The pain she couldn't express, he would voice it for her.
"Everett, you've wounded such a good woman so deeply, can't you just let her go?"
"You don't love her, do you?"
His last words were almost a whisper, carrying a slight edge of persuasion.
Everett sat there, stunned, as the harsh truths hit him like thunder.
When did Mateo become a problem?
