Mission: From Divorcee to Millionaire

Chapter 437

Before wrapping up the call, Callum hesitated for a moment, but finally asked, "Selena, do you want to hear about how Everett's doing?"

Selena's hand clutched the phone unconsciously, but she replied with a calm voice, "No, I don't want to know."

She had already made up her mind to leave, so there was no point in overthinking things.

After four years of marriage filled with chaos and drama, if they couldn't find harmony in all those days and nights, then maybe splitting up was the best choice. Callum might have chuckled softly, or maybe it was just her imagination. He said, "Alright then, see you in Germany."

"Yeah, see you in Germany."

Life had become a monotonous cycle of eating and sleeping, but knowing she'd soon see her son gave Selena something to look forward to.

The weather was already getting chilly abroad, so to keep herself busy, she asked the hotel owner to get her some yarn, and she spent her time knitting a sweater in her room.

It was partly to pass the time and partly to knit her son a sweater full of love, a little gift from mom for their reunion.

Time slipped away like sand through fingers, and today marked the seventh day.

Selena caught an early flight, and after nibbling on a slice of bread, she dashed to the airport.

The flight from Spain to Germany was roughly four hours, and she arrived a little after one in the afternoon.

A few days ago, Callum had sent her his flight details. He was due to arrive later, around five, so he advised her not to hang around the airport. He had even booked a hotel room for her to rest in until he got there. Even though she was eager, Selena knew there was no point in rushing things, and a little wait wouldn't change much.

After checking into the hotel, Selena napped for over an hour, but excitement and anticipation kept her from resting any longer.

She eventually got up, took a long bath, and pampered herself with a face mask before applying a stunning makeup look. She then picked out a beautiful long dress to wear.

Standing before the full-length mirror, she twirled around, admiring her outfit.

Meeting her son for the first time was a big deal, and first impressions matter. Even though he was still young and wouldn't understand, she valued these moments deeply. Having missed so many important days in his life, she was determined to make this one count!

The clock struck five.

Selena figured Dr. Campbell should have landed by now. She picked up her phone and dialed his number.

The phone rang on the other end, but there was no answer.

She tried again, but it went straight to voicemail.

Her brows knitted in confusion. If the call had gone through, it meant he had landed and turned on his phone. Was he too busy to answer, or just didn't hear it?

Knowing Dr. Campbell was usually reliable, she didn't dwell on it too much and returned to her knitting, just a few stitches away from finishing. About ten minutes later, her phone rang.

Selena glanced at it and saw Dr. Campbell was calling back!

With a smile lighting up her face, she quickly set down the sweater, picked up the phone, and answered eagerly, "Dr. Campbell, where are you? Do you need me to come get you?"

"I've arrived."

"Right behind you."

As soon as those words were spoken, the door clicked open, and a man walked in with purposeful strides, his presence powerful and commanding. Selena spun around.

Her eyes locked onto Everett's striking, timeless face, and her pupils widened in surprise. The phone slipped from her fingers and hit the floor with a thud. His intense, brooding eyes fixed on her, Everett spoke, his voice deep and smooth, each word deliberate.
